How to read the colors

Each shade on the map is a step in expected total rain, in inches: 0.01, 0.10, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75, 2.00, 2.50, 3.00, 4.00, 5.00, 7.00, 10.00, 15.00, 20.00. White areas are expected to stay below 0.01 in. The same key is printed down the left edge of each map, with 0.01 at the bottom and 20.00 at the top. Snow is counted as its melted water.
